Judy Kelly was appointed Vice President of Action and Community Engagement. Judy will cultivate and engage with other community organizations and coalitions that align with the mission of the LWVLL, will work on the issues that the LWVLL supports and will promote involvement with other League members (i.e. petition drives, letters to the editor, contacting elected representatives, etc.). Seeking League Leaders
Whether you have been a member of the League for a long time or have just joined, your passion and skills are needed to further the work of the League.
The Nominating Committee will begin looking for candidates to replace the outgoing board members who will be elected at our annual meeting in April and they will be sharing more with all of you in the coming months.
In the meantime, we currently have openings on the board for:
- Director
- Vice President of Action
In addition, according to our bylaws, the board can appoint 1-year board members. We would like to take greater advantage of these positions, and are currently calling these appointments, “One Project, One Year” Directors. It’s a great way to learn more about the work of the League and the board by helping with a project. Contact Jean McGuire at llpresident@lincolnleague.org if you would like information about either opportunity.
October 2024
During the September Board Meeting, Jean McGuire was appointed as LWVLL President.
Mimi Wickless was appointed as co-chair of Voter Services with Jane Witte. Thanks to Mary for her service. If you know someone who is interested in filling the LWVLL VP of Action position, please contact llpresident@lincolnleague.org.
Meet some of our Board members and hear about upcoming activities at our next coffee on Saturday, October 5, at Rock-N-Joe Coffee, 5025 Lindberg St, (S. 84th & Glynoaks Dr.) 9-10:30 AM.
Deputy Registrars are needed for voter registration events at libraries, grocery stores and community events. If you are available to help, or if your event would like to offer voter registration, please contact voterservices@lincolnleague.org.
Audrey West will be interning with the LWVLL for the next few months. She is a Junior at Nebraska Wesleyan University and is pursuing a double major in History and Gender/Sexualities Studies. After graduation, Audrey plans to attend law schools and work within gender justice. She is the VP of Recruitment for Alpha Gamma Delta and serves as their Director of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion. She is also the Vice President of the Knitting Club.
We will be giving Audrey an in-depth experience with the League and will include her in as many activities as her schedule allows. And she has hit the ground running! She recently became a deputy registrar and will be registering voters at upcoming voter registration events, she is helping organize a ballot initiative voter education event at Nebraska Wesleyan University, she attended the mid-year member meeting, and she has become involved with the Lunch & Learn team. And that’s been in just her first two weeks!

From Audrey: “I am excited to participate within an organization that will help me develop skills working with local levels of democracy and hope to use what I learn here in my future.”
We are excited to have Audrey working with us!
