Member News – April 2025
Monthly Coffee Location Change
Saturday, May 3, 2025, 9:00-10:30 AM
Unitarian Church, the Gallery space
6300 A Street, Lincoln, NE
Please bring friends & neighbors. Decaf coffee and refreshments provided. Non-decaf drinkers, you’re welcome to bring your own (non-alcoholic) beverage. Sponsored by LWVLL Events & Hospitality Committee.

LWVLL President Jean McGuire’s brainchild of hosting monthly Coffees has become such a popular in-person gathering for members and guests, that we have literally outgrown our previously reserved spaces at Rock-N-Joe’s and Scooter’s, to the point of sometimes standing room only!
These coffees provide great opportunities to learn more about League, ask questions, share ideas and meet some of LWVLL’s Board members, but it is clear that we need a larger meeting space.
After phone calls and in-person visits exploring alternative sites that might check ALL of the Events and Hospitality Committee’s boxes – free or no cost, mobility accessible, geographically central to the city, ample free parking, available between 9:00-10:30 AM on first Saturday of each month, capacity to seat our growing numbers, electrical outlets and a sink to accommodate refreshments, permission to bring in our own refreshments, adequate acoustics and minimal setup/teardown requirements.
LWVLL member Karen Dienstbier negotiated gratis use of the Gallery space at the Unitarian Church of Lincoln, located at 6300 A Street. As long as Karen or another member of the church’s Social Justice team opens the building for us, and is present at the Coffee, LWVLL may use the space on the first Saturday of the month.
Our first opportunity to take advantage of this gracious offer is Saturday, May 3. There is no coffee in April, because of LWVNE and LWVLL annual membership meetings.
The Events and Hospitality Committee will provide decaf coffee, and refreshments. Attendees will be invited to bring refreshments to share at the following June coffee.
Join this growing group, and bring friends and neighbors with you!

Give to Lincoln Day 2025 – Our BIGGEST Fundraising Opportunity of the Year
Every year League of Women Voters Lincoln-Lancaster County participates in Give to Lincoln Day (G2LD) sponsored by the Lincoln Community Foundation. Gifts are matched proportionately with a $650,000 match fund by LCF and its sponsors.
Why should I participate? Gifts shared through the G2LD from May 1 through May 30 are eligible for matching funds which stretch your generous gifts further, bringing more support to our League and our work in the community.
How can I help LWVLL reach our fundraising goal during this campaign? Like and share our Facebook posts. Ask others to share a gift.
Consider sharing your best gift EVER to this year’s campaign. What is our fundraising goal for G2LD in 2025? $6,650 – representing a 25% increase over last year. We can do this – Give to Lincoln!
