You’re invited to Justice in Action’s Community Problems Assembly
WHEN: Tuesday, November 12, 6:30 PM- 8:00 PM
WHERE: Christ United Methodist Church, 4530 A Street
Justice in Action (JIA) is an interfaith, grassroots coalition of faith communities in
Lancaster County, Nebraska that harnesses the power of organized people to address
big community problems.
Justice in Action’s current work is:
Mental Health Navigation
Adult Pre-Trial Diversion
Pre-eviction mediation
At the Assembly, you will gain insight into what was shared during house meetings
across the county, hear testimonies from those directly affected by our issues, elect new
officers, and participate in an action to advance our adult pre-trial diversion campaign.
Justice in Action’s work aligns with the positions of the League, therefore the LWVLL is
working with JIA to become an affiliate organization and we hope to become one after
the election.
PLEASE JOIN US: Pre-Eviction Mediation Fact-Finding Summit
WHEN: Thursday, August 15, 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM
WHERE: Eastridge Presbyterian Church, 1135 Eastridge Drive (Huxtable Lounge)
Leaders on the topic—including Lincoln Councilmembers Sändra Washington and Bennie Shobe—are attending to share information and expertise as we work together on this issue.
Justice in Action (JIA) is hosting a fact-finding event as part of our affordable housing campaign for Lincoln stakeholders and City leaders to explore the challenges and opportunities surrounding pre-eviction mediation. This concept was identified as one potential effort to ensure that everyone has access to safe and affordable housing.
We are inviting you and other Lancaster County community members with an interest in affordable housing.
Please let us know by Monday, August 12 if you are planning to attend by emailing beth@justice-in-action.org.
Justice in Action
An interfaith, grassroots coalition of 24 faith communities representing 14,000 congregants in Lancaster County, Justice in Action strives to harness the power of organized people to address big community problems. More than 1,200 people gathered in May 2024 at its annual Nehemiah Action Assembly to hear and endorse three reports that were researched and proposed as specific solutions to issues raised at a series of listening sessions held the previous fall. The three broad issues were affordable housing, access to mental health services, and criminal justice reform. For more information or to be added to our mailing list, visit justice-in-action.org.
