Cynthia S. Peterson

Honorary Tribute
For
Cynthia S. Peterson

It is with a deep sense of loss and sorrow that we announce the passing of Cynthia Peterson, who served as President of the League of Women Voters of Lincoln-Lancaster County.  Cynthia passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, August 20, at the age of 69.

Her passing has left a huge hole in the hearts of her friends and colleagues and big shoes to fill as the leader of the League.  Through Cynthia’s leadership the League of Women Voters had formed partnerships with a number of other nonprofit organizations in the community and she led the League in advocating for the issues that are important to the League:  Public Schools, Women’s Health Care, Fair Housing and, of course, Voting Rights to name just a few.

She was always looking for ways for the League to make a difference, and she inspired our members to do the same.  We will strive to uphold and continue to move her legacy forward.  Cynthia’s compassion for others and leadership will be missed.

The Memorial service will take place at 11:00 am on Saturday, September 14, 2024, at Roper and Sons South Lincoln Chapel, 950 Hohensee Drive.  Interment will occur at a later date in the Prairie Home Cemetery in Holdrege, Nebraska.
